SPOILER 4:45 yee it was pretty cliché, but something that flew over my head and with his bully saying she probably spelled herself to make ends meet and keep him in school, made this scene flash back into my head with a greater understanding. So that's were I disagree. Might have looked cliché but it wasn't anywhere near cliche
damn Moist spittin for once, the 1st episode if definitely the worst, cuz of the exposition dumps n the Mom being pretty generic n never expanded upon about her connections to Edgerunners or even who David's Father was, even then its still pretty gud all things considered
If it wasn't so heartbreaking there would probably be an incentive to watch it again. They've made the characters well enough to have this effect on us.
Tbh the only problem I had was the quick time skip they did to more of content and information from the 10 episodes provided maybe 16 at the very least
Netflix actually has a great track record with originals based off video games IPs. Castlevania, Arcane, DOTA: Dragon's blood and now Edgrunners are all fantastic shows.
I hate this show, the same reason I hate Akame Ga Kill, depression. Everything stays stagnant, and there is no light in the show, no happiness just pain, I wasn't feeling great prior to the show and now I feel like shit, god I hate this show 😭
I also thought about the speeding writing it sometimes feels more like a recap of a show from 2 seasons but really I deduced this complain to just: "WE WANT MORE"
my only complaint about the show was the overly long still shots during action scenes. Episode 7 with 4:03 minutes left is an example. Really bothered me.
Honestly I’m really glad that it didn’t have more than 10 episodes because if they fledged out the characters anymore then I would’ve been breaking down into a mess at the ending man 😭
Loved it so much. Already watched it through twice. I'm not sure I put it on quite the same level as Castlevannia, but honestly it's not a fair comparison, as the latter has 4 seasons of character development and Edgerunners felt a little rushed.
i want a full 25 episodes of this anime, Trigger definitely could make it since they have done this stuff before. Cdpr must have wanted this project to be a side show to get people interest back to the game, but the anime slap so hard that now i'm angry they made this decision, guess how brilliant it would get when the length is more
To everyone who is sad it ended: Why not petition Netflix to just keep doing 12 episode runs with a new story of a different character in NC every run? Its based off a tabletop game where you just keep making different characters for different play throughs so it would make total sense to just keep dishing out epi runs with completely new characters with different backgrounds and stories….Badlands, Corpo, NetRunners, Cops, Medics, Hookers, Politicians. The possibilities are basically endless with this series. If they don't continue it i think it would be a huge mistake. As long as they keep the writing good I don't see any issues with this show becoming a major hit for NF.
I love that they ended with a not happy ending. Obviously David dying wasn't exactly happy, but at the very end when Lucy is imagining him, she smiles, like she's at peace with his death. But then he disappears and it's like she's now truly come to terms that he's really gone forever. Great scene and a great ending.
For me the show was too fast paced to care for any character which is a shame, it could've definitely used like 5 more episodes to flesh out character development
100% agree with you. I watched the show because of the first like 19 seconds of this video because I didn't want to risk getting spoiled. It is really good, but I didn't care about anyone in it, which was kind of sad, because I wanted to feel sad. I wanted to connect to someone, anyone, in the show but the writing, or more specifically the pacing, didn't allow that. As an action show with a fantastic sound track, it was amazing. As a show that tugs at the heart strings, it missed the mark.
Also I was wondering while watching if I played the game– would moments be more substantial/ impactful to me? I just felt like there were a lot of times where what was happening in the show is something someone who has played the game would know all about. But for me it was just question marks.
Still, I'd give it a 9/10, too. Very much worth the watch.

23.09.2022The rushed pace plays to Trigger's strength. They like to play things fast and loose. Dragging the story out would kill the show's energy.
