That wilderness David and Maine walked through psychologically. And in the end after walking or running (in Maines case) there was- Nothing. A vast, empty wildernesses.
The light switch from night to day was an insight for the external world to his mind and he’s just walking, mindlessly, alone.
Same as what we do in current society but perhaps it’s more mind-numbing than mind controlling though it can be that too.
0:26 That intersection scene where he "kills himself" so to speak, is something that will stick with me for a long time. It says so much. The personality of David the "legend", overtook and killed the normal boy he originally was.
idk what it is about those first 34 seconds, but the hopelessness in the fact that he knows his life is over at such a young age, that it takes too long to become someone that you want to be, only being able to blame yourself, makes me wanna cry and gives me chills every time I see it
i wish the police were this dedicated in the game, i went on a rampage through the streets with just a machete and 700hp, slaughtering civilians, cops, turrets, everything i guess maxtac was on strike or something
0:00 to 0:33 was so beautifully done. The music really sets the entire tone showing his usual route as a kid, transitioning day and night and showing him stop in the middle of the road literally on the edge of his sanity and cyber psychosis Gives me chills every time I watch that scene. 10/10
I just realized… David walking here contrasts from the earlier episode when David walks to the Arasaka Academy. However, here when he crossess the streets he stops in the middle. signifying that he's way too deep into his psychosis, unable to walk forward or move on. That scene represents David's own end of the line. 😢
0:26 is extremely poetic, the crosswalk is an unthinking machine that has no humanity on repeat saying "Don't walk", almost like its egging David into succumbing to the madness, whereas Maine uses the last ounce of his sanity before he dies to say: "Just keep running".

24.07.2023It’s fitting that we start the show calmly exploring this world, and ended with one last race through it.
I’ve always adored the concept of a final stand at the end of a show. One more mission. They executed it beautifully.
