Hey guys, I’m a Doctor working in the UK and in this video I react and break down scenes from the Cyberpunk Edgerunners show on Netflix.
In today’s video I break down all of Adam Smasher’s Cyberware, comparing his cyberware to modern medicine and real life prosthetic enhancements.
I will be looking at retinal implants, voice prosthesis, artificial feeding, cybernetic brains and exoskeleton suits.
I will explain whether we could make an Adam smasher suit in real life and whether Adam smasher would be classed as a human or a full on Cyborg.
I will also be reacting to Adam smasher battle it out against David and his crew in the Cyberpunk Universe.
HERE IS A LINK to my video where I Break down DAVID’s Cyberware and body Implants:

08.06.2023Everyone praise Smasher and called him the ultimate unit. Yet everyone always forget that his nemesis who always surpass him was Morgan Blackhand who use 1 fucking implanted simple hand and nothing more, coz he follows the: "Experience and instincts are better then all your chrome combined" doctrine.

07.06.2023It's a shame that we can't make a fully functional cyborg in cyberpunk 2077 that would have been cool, because there are so many versions of cyborg body replacement in lore that you can choose in cyberpunk.

07.06.20231:37 Iām pretty sure the sandevistan (the mod that both David and smasher have in the anime) just flat out replaced the spinal chord, Iām pretty sure all he still has is a skull and his brain.

07.06.2023I liked the comparison between Smasher and RoboCop 2 aka RoboCain. Both of them were reduced to a specific set of body parts (in Smasherās case a whole mess, in Cainās just his brain and eyes), and transformed into hulking robotic monstrosities armed to the teeth. Both of them were also psychotic enough to maintain their sense of self even after the cybernetic conversion. They donāt even care about collateral damage!
With that said, Cainās body was kinda limited by ingestion of the drug he made in that movie, while Smasher can just keep going without interruption. And obviously, Smasher has the speed advantage over Cain.

07.06.2023I always figured Adam Smasher was already a sadistic psychopath, it doesn't affect him like everyone else.

07.06.2023Hereās a fact: Other than being bodyguard, Adam Smasher will take only take job that allow or require ALL collateral damages. As in, the only job heāll take is the job that let him kill everyone and everything until that region is wiped clean. You wanna hire him to kill your rival ? Sure but heāll also take down the whole building of all life forms down with that rival. A machine that runs on murder with enough logical reasoning to hold back when needed.

07.06.2023adam smasher is high functioning cyberpsycho

06.06.2023if we could reach million or more electrods in eye implant we could implement AR into system as well, basically making monitors obsolete.

06.06.2023In the lore, Adam Smasher has only his frontal lobe intact. The frontal lobe is embeded in a biopod, basically a brain in a jar kinda thing, which can then be switched between bodies. Read somewhere that he had multiple bodies for different purposes, not sure if this is canon tho.

06.06.2023Way I figure, Adam Smasher can't go full Cyber-Psycho for two reasons:
1. I reckon he was a high-functioning psychopath before the chrome. So he's technically a psycho now, it's just not any different from how he was before.
2. His chrome is state-of-the-art military-grade implants. All the little imperfections and pollutants present in lower-grade implants that would otherwise contribute towards the development of a full psychotic break might not be a factor for him.

06.06.2023You should look into the current state of AI. We can currently create artificial minds with over 12 billion digital neurons. At the current pace (weekly breakthroughs), many experts in AI are already questioning whether or not these systems possess sentience and/or sapience. Many are also saying we are on the verge of the technological singularity. I think we will 100% have the capability to create an exact digital copy of a human mind within a decade. Likely by then we'll have AI that is exponentially more intelligent than all humans combined.

06.06.2023Adam smasher was nearly killed by rocket launcher he was literally a sandwich bag full of meat, then arasaka offered him the chance to become a full borg

06.06.2023smasher was already a sociopathic killer before all the cyberware. Cyberpsycosis didn't really change anything

06.06.2023How about talk about the Surrogates movie, a future where we use androids bodies to explore and do stuff in the world while our biological bodies stay at home.

04.06.2023After watching your vid about David and this one. It is interesting to think the possibilities of cyber enhancements and how FAR we could take it.
1st thing for an enhanced human would be an enhanced body, but that requires an advance AI capable to transmit info from your brain to these mechanical parts and also filter all the unnecessary overload of info back to the brain. Basically a copilot to our nerve system, one that can let us be aware of the mechanical body but also manages the info, so the brain doesn't get overwhelmed. This also means we would need a 2nd brain…or to put it in overly simplified words, a second (cyber) cerebellum. So similar to how we pilot vehicles. We are at the wheel, but the machine takes care of monitoring or performing the actions.
This might be the most practical way, but also is risky as we might end up as a "brain in a jar" inside a mech-body, and "if the ignition doesn't work"…well, we're screwed. It could also be far more susceptible to be hacked.
Also, if we think of this in a more efficient way…the final result might not even look human. Similar to those military par-cur robots, we might end up with a body design of just a "torso" with limbs. As the human brain would need to be protected inside and not standing up top like the human skull does. We would just need optics, and these could even switch and come from any direction, maybe even switch depending on the angle and how the mech-body traverses terrain.
With the idea of a cyber brain assisting at all times, there would be no real need to specify Legs or arms, all limbs could be capable of performing the same actions. So the body would almost look more like a spider or octopus, when it comes to its movements (not the look) the Brain could get dizzy if it has to spin inside the body to adjust, but that could ALSO be part of what a cyber brain's job, it would only need to let us know were each angle IS. Similarly to how we can see high motion videos without getting dizzy (I know some more sensible people do still get dizzy) and after using VR it's certain something to get used to (see the wold move but your brain constantly saying you are standing still) that conflict could be solved if that info doesn't reach the brain, or is presented differently
biggest issue is still how to maintain a tissue brain alive and save. Nutrition & oxygen are the main obstacles, and also how to heal it if it gets sick. Even in a complete sealed environment, the brain will eventually age, deteriorate or most likely will suffer some kind of illness from being inside a machine and not a living organism. We know our organs don't take kindly to strange organism being added, and also don't get along with other organisms when being transplanted. So, I'm sure SOME issue would show up eventually if we place a brain in a jar, even if we kept it alive, with oxygen and nutrition.

04.06.2023So in the lore biotic was able to make a body but not a mind while Arisaka was able to move the soul maybe they made brain with a better ability to control electrical functions

04.06.2023As I've heard it, Adam Smasher was a psycho before hand. All the chrome simply made him, more him. So he is a cyberpsycho, but that's because thats who he is already as a person.

04.06.2023There is actually something called cyberblood in the universe.

04.06.2023I know it's been 6 months ago, but I wanna know what your view is on IRL body "hacking". Like implanting a chip to pay wireless or a lcd screen as a watch.

04.06.2023Adam Smasher previous to his cyberware was already an unhinged individual. In a contract he has with arasaka it is a given that human casualties can and will occur with him to his liking which they accepted happily. In a way, the cyberware didnāt change much on his outlook on things as is, but merely enhanced it as he manages to keep his āsanityā in check with that line of work. Borgs naturally are anti-social, so his life is spent being a quiet body guard which gets to enjoy the luxuries of life and a solo for hire as itās said fixers would hire him for work at times during 2077 and arasaka most likely had people they wanted dead.

04.06.2023wow fucking props for using original dub

04.06.2023If we ever have our own smasher it would me the rockš

04.06.2023I think Adam is beyond Cyberpsycho thats why he has this personality. In the Pen and Paper Shadowrun there is a condition for players to pick that is called Superhuman psychosis. Text there said someone with that trait think of himself as something better then human and i think Adam Smasher fits in that realy well so hes also sick but in another way were i can still have some sort of control. Another thing i think he dont suffer form any side effects is that he might use artificial blood and has Cyberware that is specially mad for him so his body can accept it better. And in a Full Cyborg body like his i could think he also use some kind of Nanites as an artificial immunesystem or so.

04.06.2023Ok so in summary
adam smasher is by all extensions off what i know a complete opposite to morgan black hand a legend in the cyberpunk setting for his reliance on his human instincts where as adam smasher is a cybernetic monstrosity

02.06.2023I love how mahdi just puts out all of his thoughts on cybernetic implants and also the little bits of speculation on the lore

02.06.2023I wonder if Cybernetics become common, would people replace their body by it or would they keep themselves natural (even though they would be at an immense disadvantages VS Cybernetics) ?
I think it might become like :
⢠People with Cybernetics
Vs
⢠People with external device like, exoskeleton, maybe artificial muscle as clothing (if that even is possible), smart glasses, would an external device that send/receive informations to/from the brain without having to put implants in it even be possible ?
So Cybernetics would be a choice other than having to do it become you'd otherwise be worse at everything if you didn't have some

02.06.2023I'd say he doesn't have much of a body for the cyberware to affect

02.06.2023In game it says hes about 96% cyborg so there's still 4% human left

02.06.2023The mechanics of cyberpsychosis is mostly to represent to figurative and literal dehumanization someone would feel become more machine than person. It also can be mitigated. A child getting cyberware takes half of the psychological damage. Certain techniques of giving someone cyberware in the universe also half the psychological cost. You can also revert the damage to one's psyche with therapy. Basically, cyberpsychos are people who needed a lot of mental health treatment beforehand and just never got it. Eventually they go through a psychotic episode, MaxTac gets called and maybe Maxtac kills them, or maybe they survive the encounter. If they survive the encounter, that still usually means they lost the fight and are now in MaxTac custody…to be conscripted into being the newest MaxTac recruit and you get corporate sponsored therapy and medication to prevent another psychotic episode.
Adam Smasher probably wouldn't take therapy, but the worst of what happened to David could have potentially been mitigated had he started going to therapy before everything hit the fan. Once you go full cyberpsycho though…shit get real difficult.

02.06.2023Adam Smasher is in fact in all sense of the word a Psychopath. His brain is about the only thing still his own organic one. But he might as well be a full robot murder machine like a terminator. He only lives to do one thing pure and simple. To murder in sick and brutal ways. No doubt he like anyone else at that stage suffers from the Cyberpsychosis. But unlike for Example David he has no remorse or guilt. And as he has always been a Psychopath even before he became like this the only result it had is that he only became even more violent and agressive. The only thing he seems to be sensitive about is who he lost to. Like Morgan Blackhand..who was basically a human with just a cybernetic arm. But the most legendary Solo alive renowned for his style of not killing anyone. Not even the worst kind of scum alive like Smasher. And that irks Smasher to no end.
For all his enhancements Adams singulair psychotic mind is actually his biggest weakness. Unable to think outside any box but depravity.
Chris Birb
02.06.2023I think the reason why Adam is resistant to cyberpsychosis is because he is a psychopath and becoming a cyborg made that disconnect from humanity worse

01.06.2023"adam smasher is an absolute menace, leading a path of destruction" meanwhile me the 17th time smashing his face on the pavement cause he killed david

01.06.2023If only he did his research on the game and not just point out random implants

01.06.2023Not all cyberpsychos are effected in the same way max tech has alot of reformed cyberpsychos working for them and as for Adam smasher it seems to be the same way he's lost his humanity and sees humans as nothing but meat bags in his contract it requires his jobs to have lots of murder and collateral damage I'm pretty sure that's quite a good indicator that he is a cyberpsyco and also we don't know what sort of drugs that arasaka has that we don't know about

01.06.20236:05 He DOES have a human brain but seemingly everything else, like literally everything else, is JUST bionic. You can see that he's got his brain in the final fight with him in Cyberpunk 2077 – his faceplate gets damaged and it's exposed. In the lore of the TTRPG and the game, it's specified that he is… kind of unique, in that he's the only functioning Cyberpsycho and basically all that's left of him is his brain – and even that's been pretty modified.

01.06.2023He also had a brain module ICE breaker to make Lucy hack usless.

01.06.2023We have processors hitting up to 80 billion transistors how that translates to neurons if at all is another discussion but these chips are way smaller than a melon.

01.06.2023Awesome video!!! Btw, what's the name of the song playing?

01.06.2023Adam smasher is immune to going cyberpsycho because was already unhinged before getting his chrome. Being that its a mental disorder caused by post traumatic stress, adam smasher has no risk of going psycho, because he has nothing in his life that brings him pain, be it physical or emotional. Hes 1 of the few people that enjoys hurting others and causing as much pain and death as possible, and that was before he got his chrome If given the opportunity, he prefers to torment his victims first. In closing, you cant lose control if you never held back to begin with.
