I enjoyed the anime a lot. A certain character's cyberpsychosis was definitely my favorite part. The music was also excellent. My main complaint is that the latter half felt a bit rushed.
I thought it was decent enough, if it wasn't a Cyberpunk series. It's an over the top, anime "interpretation" of Cyberpunk, which itself is far more rooted in a more serious, harder sci-fi style. If it created it's own world, it would be better overall. Instead, it's deviated too far from the core style for me to enjoy it more.
It was okay I guess solid 6 out of 10 series characters died way too fast and there's not really enough characterization to make me feel too bad about it overall the aesthetic of the anime is pretty good and I like the fact that there's not a lot of plot armor
Honestly wished I liked it as much as everyone else, but the 2nd half of the anime and the ending was so weak it killed it for me. Probably the most overhyped an anime has been for me since Your Name
While I may be indifferent to all this I am glad that the anime at least showed everyone the world the developers wanted to build. Unfortunately this highlights the broken promises CDPR made towards their fans and everyone else. Also from talking to a lot of people it seems that 10 episodes weren't enough to tell the story they wanted. So the same thing that happened to the game, to some extent happened to the anime as well. These kind of things prevent me from fully enjoying this franchise as I am from an older generation that played completed games. Even though I say this I am not invalidating Bob's experience with this franchise or anyone else's for that matter. It's just that I am burnout out on Triple AAA companies putting out broken products these days and expecting the consumers to wait several months to a year to be able to consume said products. Sorry for the mini rant great video as always Bob 👍
you can do it in either order watching the anime 1st will give you a base line for the game or if you play the game 1st then alot of the stuff that happens in the anime will make perfect sense.
This show was pretty good overall, I'd give it a 7 out of 10. I even reviewed the show on MAL even though reviewing stuff on there I generally don't do unless if it's a show I watched a lot, strikes a cord with me emotionally or have a nostalgic connection towards. I remember the show kind of veering off a bit in the 2nd half, where a timeskip happens and I am not a big fan of timeskips that ignore major character development. The ending felt anti climatic too. I also played the game and am on the Heist Mission, it seems solid enough but the story is starting off a bit slow, this isn't the first time this happened with me and a WRPG, I held off the first Star Wars KOTOR game for months because of it's weak begginning. I'll return to it, the stealth is not too bad for a modern game that attempts the idea.
I was hyped for ER loved it but it was too short for the type of story they went with personally with 77 at launch I was disappointed but after it was patched, I gave it a 2nd shot it's a great game just don't buy into their marketing also are you going To buy the expansion that comes out in '23 Bob?
Did not play the game even though I was so (over)hyped about it. Decided to wait since I had a ps4 at the time. I have a PS5 and am waiting for the next big update, probably launching with the DLC. I heard that the cops would be fixed with that one and the game should be in a really good condition by then. Watched the anime with this very basic knowledge and I think everything is very easy to follow and the rules of the world can be deducted by logical reasoning and less then basic knowledge of other cyberpunk works.
Does this show take place before or after the game? After seeing that finale I guessed that you take care of the bad guy in the game and you probably kill them off there. Guessing here, but he seems one of those characters that they keep until the finale to surprise the fanbase and to tie in the show with the game. Or maybe I do not believe they would keep such a threat alive for a single season show.
You know, I could get used to the poor fps, and bugs, because the game somehow didn't crash during my first playthrough, and I only couldn't complete 1 side quest. But they really messed up with the basic gunplay, and horrible balance. That'll never get fixed, unless Cyberpunk will get overhaul mods like Skyrim did.
I have never played the game, but I watched the anime on a friend's recommendation and absolutely hated it. I have no idea why everyone loves it so much. The story was incredibly boring and I predicted the ending half way through… even the prologue.
I felt so weird having the exact opposite opinion of literally everyone. I honestly thought I just didnt like anime anymore. Currently watching Spy Family and having a much better time. I am glad everyone had fun with cyberpunk, but it was just not for me.
I really want to get into this game because the anime was phenomenal but I only have a PS4…… should I get Cyberpunk I heard it might've been unplayable on PS4 or have they patched it enough??
It was really fun a lot better than I expected, the story might be a bit predictable and I would love the second half to be paced a bit better, but damn it kept me engrossed and there was a lot to like there. As for the game I played in March after the first big update and i do think its really good, I love the cyberpunk theme so its an easy sale, the rpg decision making and some the stories were great, I do have to say that I was not a fan of the gameplay and the glitches on my then new pc were basically non existent until towards the end and there were a few missions which were really bad but generally fine. It's a shame they didn't quite reach the Withcer 3 for me as that is probably my favourite jrpg i think its quality was a bit up and down with stuff but it was a really good game which I think people give a bit too much hate for all its bugs.
Thanks for being so amazing. I've checked out a LOT of animes (Sword of the Stranger and Macross Plus, for ex) because you recommended them and was surprised that you were spot on 100% of the time. Even checked out one which wasn't on any list of anyone I listen to: 1984's Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind. It is one of the best animes I've ever seen and no one seems to bring it up. And since you stated that your raison d'être is to get as many people to watch anime as possible, I thought you'd appreciate the recommendation. You are an absolute connoisseur as it relates to this.
The world setting and the character design are top notch and mesmerizing. But the story pivots reminded me of Akame Ga Kill and Gurren Lagann and when I realised the similarities, I stopped getting surprised by the events as it came a bit to clear and expected. I was left wishing for something to break this trend but it got carried to the end. This exact reason sabotaged the experience for me.
I was hoping for a deeper emotion, and a more complex plots, but I know there is limitations and variables I'm not aware of. So I will give it a 6.5/10
I liked that they actually added an attractive girl to the anime version where they are all ugly in the original game. Also that there's no MMO grinding between anime episodes, and there's no generic loot-shooter gameplay.

23.11.2022Very fair review. I'd rate it just a bit lower just because I've seen the same story beats done better with more fleshed out characters
