Yeah I know I’m late to the party on this one but better late than never.
I’m hoping this video will finally give me some closure on this show and I can move on. It’s amazing how this show instantly hit icon status. One of the best this year.
I wonder what the anime would look like if instead of going into crime, he decided to stay in the academy and rise to the top in a way that doesnt drain his sanity and body health as much. He would probably be able to live a long life and maybe find someone he would love. Although he wouldnt have all those banger experiences and he would never meet lucy and the crew. I doubt he could meet anyone like his crew in the corp world. If they would make a second season that is just "what if david didnt go down the crime route" it would probably consist of him making it out of the academy with some problems on the way, becoming a bazilionaire but being lonely without someone like lucy or his crew, become depressed and then he would kill himself.
What do I think? I think that I won't be able to watch Edgerunners ever again. "I really Want To Stay At Your House" will re-awaken these emotions inside me and send he hurling into depression.
From a marketing and advertising standpoint, CD Projekt Red is a literal mad genius. When a project fails, it is illogical to invest more time and money into said project. When Cyberpunk’s game debut was a flop, CD could have just abandoned it and cut their losses. But no – they decided to invest more on it by making a show and in doing so, salvaged their game. Brilliant crazy bastards.
Live a quiet life or die in a blaze of glory? In cyberpunk you can only choose to save yourself or save another but you can never choose both… a world that penalizes you for choosing moral choices over selfish ones.
2:00 lmao that was extremly relatable, i remember closing the car radio when driving to focus on w/e quest i was on rather than the show, but then random radios would play it as i'm in the middle of my ninja stuff and i'd just stop and listen, frozen like a deer looking at a car headlights… Idk how many ncp's life that song saved, i can't kill someone knowing they might have a gf wanting to go to the moon sometime in the future, what am i, Smasher!?!?!
The show on its own have the game after its patches a renaissance. I forgot about this games existence till I came across the show by accident. If I would’ve had expectations I’d still been blown away.
So what does that theory of David being tolerant to cyberware and not turning cyberpsycho tells us about Adam Smasher? Man is basically entierly machine and he is not turning psycho
A season 2 wouldn't make sense for this show. I mean there just isn't really anywhere else this story can go. However…
Give me another Cyberpunk anime by Studio Trigger. Different characters, and set it up so that it can be a multi-season show. I see this show as an experiment to see if an anime would work in this world. We all saw that it did work. I NEED MORE.
Also after Maine died and David took over Lucy began to distance herself from the group, and the show had shown that she was a major anchor for him. I think that distance was a major factor, even when they began to live together they kept each other at a distance.
i regret watching the show. I regret it because of how quickly you grow to love the characters, only for them to all meet horrific ends except for Lucy. The ending killed me. And poor David, who was trying to fulfill the dreams of others instead of living for himself succumbed to exactly what he was warned about from the very beginning: cyberpsychosis. This show is tragic and heartbreaking. Night City chews you up and spits you out with no mercy. This show is amazing, and definitely deserved the Anime of the Year award, but the emotional damage you get watching it is *rough*.
David's hamartia (fatal flaw) was prioritizing and misunderstanding the dreams that others give him and never having one of his own. His mother's dream was for him to reach the top of Arasaka tower. David did so, not as a CEO, but as a vigilante on the border of cyberpsychosis. Maine wanted David to lead his crew after he was gone, and David did so by leading them to their deaths. Finally, David kept on sacrificing himself to get Lucy to the moon, even after he had replaced that dream with the one of simply being with David. Lucy's dream was no longer to go to the moon, but to just have a life with David in it. David repeatedly misinterpreted and prioritized the wrong dreams and fell victim to his circumstances. Night City is the perfect corporate technological dystopia of the future. The corporations run everything and you can rather join them and become a slave or fight against them and die. And if you want to the power to fight back, you must do so by risking your sanity and your life. It is a zero-sum game in which the powerful always win. David managed to take down a mid-level executive through his sacrifice and that's it. Cyberpunk Edgerunners depicts dystopian future perfectly and has become one of my favorites, if not my favorite anime.
i watched the show then bought the game. my friend sent me an edgerunners playlist while i was playing so i had it on. I got to the part in the prologue where jackie dies and THAT song came on. i was NOT okay, but it also really helped me to love the game and grew my connection to it.
im so glad i didnt watch this trash like everyone did, thinking it was going to the best thing ever. LOL what a fuckin joke this was. im only here for the highlights on my friends have been saying about it. but i never really believe anyones opinion on anime… everyone has their own taste and this just wasntt for me. i didnt even like the cyberpunk game. that game was complete trash and still has alot of bugs and game play that needs to be fixed. its sad to be a Cyber fan when everything else about it is going down hill. LOL
you really need to be outside more if you have a crisis over a anime show. lol wow man you really should go outside or go to a cosplay convention and pick up some ladies there. lol thats just sad and depressing on so many levels.
😭after watching this show i made that bich adamsmasher kill him self till i got bord i put the fight on save so when am feeling bord i can go and do it again and again😡
Cyberpunk 2077's release reminds me of Fallout: New Vegas. Buggy as hell, especially on consoles but I love them anyway. Euro jank is a helluva thing for some people.
My take away was that life comes for us all. Nobody is safe from it and we will all get chewed up and spit out. It left me with a feeling of existential dread and a need to get shit done.
