10.10.2022Gotta wonder why Lucy tried to steal David's shard on the train when she was only targeting Corpos.
No way he looked Corpo.
No way she would have known about his new chrome and it's value to Maine just yet.
No way of really knowing, but I think love has someway of making the impossible possible sometimes.
What a work of art Edgerunners is… man.

08.10.2022i love how this show really had lucy be the main character. Even though David was, she was the only one to survive in the end. I love shows that do this. Transfer the main character to someone else at the end.

Lost In The Cosmos
08.10.2022What was sad apart from that it ended and how it ended was that in the end nothing really changed. Nearly all the cast died and some of them seemed unnecessary, I won't spoil it for those who haven't seen it but it feels like some of the characters were killed at a point where yo knew them just enough to like them but too soon in order to understand them. Some of the characters would of been really interesting to see developed but they were chopped before their time. Being that nearly all the cast is dead, they can not defeat the evil corporations that I guess that the end of the show faced no real punishment, all the villains except a few survived while our cast dies and that just leaves an unpleasant taste. And then the last scenes of Lucy on the moon along with this song got to me a bit because of how much she seemed to care for David. She misses him so much and wishes that he was alive so bad to keep his promise that she imagines him with her. Her dream of going to the moon was fulfilled but without David it just feels empty, leading her to be in a similar position as David at the end of the show. With no new dreams she has no drive or reason to live, apart from maybe keeping the memory of David alive. All I'm saying is that some of the characters deserved better and I wish there was more. Also I've only seen the anime adaptation and was told there was a webnovel of it, hopefully that ends better.

06.10.2022How do I know google collects my personal data? I never searched for this show on YT cause I didn’t want to cry yet another time.
Maybe that’s because I’m roughly the same age as David by the end of Edgerunners, but seeing a young aspiring life burn out like this has torn me apart in so many ways it shouldn’t even be possible for an anime

06.10.2022I want a happy ending where Lucy and David are living a happy life on the moon together.
The ending of the anime broke me emotionally.

06.10.2022The irony is that the thing between David and Lucy was pretty obvious. Those two were the only ones who were aliens in the world of the Night City. David being the warm-hearted, affectionate, self-sacrificing person and Lucy being the stargazer dreaming of going to the moon, they cotradicts to the very core value of what Night City stands for. That's the reason why characters of the two feel more distant, lonely, introverted and frustrating the longer the show goes on. Really, the bigger David gets, the weaker his inner thing gets. Harder he tries, bigger the burden compared to his waning soul. That cyber-psycho thing, especially in case of David, is not just a plot device or feature of the game. They tried but they just don't fit in the Night City and they do know unconsciously. The undying fear. The reason why they are so attracted to each other is also the reason why their relationship couldn't hold on. Just the two lone wolves.
True that other peers of the crew were also rare personalities to come by. Like Rebecca, they were straightforward and honest in their life in the Night City. However ironically that shows how much they have been blended into the Night City compared to David and Lucy. For instance, as much as I like Rebecca being the loyal and caring badass, the craziness which is fundamental part of the Night City comes natural to her. With that, the anime points out to the real cruelty and twisted feature of the Night City. Not the bloody, gore, gut splattering here and there but how it gets people internalized to the city's twisted atmosphere.
So in the end, the death of David and loss of Lucy felt different compared to other's death. Though they all felt tragic, sad and shocking, the death of Rebecca, Maine, Dorio, Pilar and etc seemed what was meant to be, like those are things that happen in the Night City everday whether good or bad(shocking death and yet the anime portrays death a bit comically? cynically? at times, like repeating the death scene of Rebecca three times or Pilar's head blowing up in slow-mo or especially the bending machine).
On the other hand, the death and loss of David and Lucy seemed to represent what it takes for those who do not fit to the ways of the Night City have to go through to achieve mundane happiness. And that's why I feel acceptance and gratitude, but also the bitter weariness in Lucy's face in the final moment on the moon(Truly one of the most complex depictions of emotion). The appearance of Adam at the final episode pretty much tells how menacing the city can be.
And on top of that, the cherry on cake is the sequence from David's head blowing up to the scene overlooking the Night City. The devs could've wanted to give David's death scene less gore and more heroism. But personally, I think the opposite or maybe that was what devs actually intended. Think it as a balloon blowing up or curtain being cleared or something like a thin layer being uncovered. Then David becomes a fake hero in that term. Just like prequel or intro or tutorial to your game(The anime is also for Cyberpunk 2077's promotional reason). Welcome to the Night City! There are plot twists in writings like this where you start with some people readers thought of as main characters and next day they are all wiped out. Then the real main characters show up. David could be that character who was thought to be the main character but actually was not. All these fit well into the atmosphere of the Night City where no one is main character but the city. Even Maine says the theme clearly. "…don't make a name for themselves by how they live, they make a name for themselves by how they die" While this could make sense in a general way, it could also mean that no death truly matters in the Night City. THE FUCKING CITY DOESN'T GIVE A SHIT about whether die trying or try dying and yet it's hard to notice till it gets you(RIP David's mom). The anime could've been more on point if it ended on that city view scene.
Thus I couldn't really relate to those comments where many say, with Adam saying a word or two, boy David is now a legend. It was heroic and I know but what it implies weights heavier inside me. God the ending of Titanic is way more mind-settling compared to this. Bit of a twisted Hamlet kind of tragic vibe. I mean just look at Lucy's face at the end when facing the sun opening her arms. That's unsettling.
Nevertheless great piece. I always believe great work is made when characters are acting believable like in real life and context is delivered only by how one presents it, not making the character just blabber about it. And I think the anime is successful in that and is more cyberpunk than the game. It's game medium's limit. Game is harder to make when the avatar of the player has to end up badly.

05.10.2022I never understood why Lucy was like she was in this episode – she was cheerful and wild, while for the rest of the anime she was sad and serious. Basically, she started as Rebecca and then she just switched to herself when the gang arrived at her place. I just don't get why.
