I've been wondering about that Afterlife drink since 1.5 rolled out. Thought for sure it was a reference to a developer/fan. The Cyberpunk tie-ins always find nice ways to relate to the game and vice-versa.
So this further confirms that the anime takes places before the game because David seems to live in megabuilding H04 and it's actually quarantined and inaccessible in the game
I mean a merc would have to be dead to get a drink. Unless that kind of is a spoiler that he dies, either in combat, or from old age, or that's what we think. Same way how no one knows if Morgan Blackhand is dead or not.
So he got himself go out with a big bang, big enough to get an honorary drink in the "Afterlife," like Jackie Welles. This makes me think that what if we get to see little boi Jackie cameo? since they are both from SK latino family background aka same district/neighborhood.
Given that the tradition for you to get a drink named after you in the afterlife is to die first. That must mean David tragically dies the end of the anime.

06.07.2022So maybe it could mean the events in the anime take place before the video game since usually mercs get a drink named after them, after they pass away
