We obviously all wanted David to live but him putting on the cyberskeleton was the point of no return, there was no way they could revert him back to his old, skinny self. This show was an absolute gem and it would be a win-win for studios and consumers to release a 2nd season.
Great anime, but damn. I understand the necessity for the ending but i just dont agree with the outcome for David. The boy desrved better, even for a possible redemption arc. Hell, they should've had a quest chain where he meets up with V by one way or another. Sadly I'm just ranting here.
What I don't understand is how a group of misfits always seem to easily trivialize military geared up soldiers with military combat training.Like I get it that David might be "special" but no amount of motley crew packed in a civilian vehicle should be realistically able to obliterate a fully decked out military convoy
An interesting meta fact about Edgerunners is that David was truly special, not because he belived in himself, but because thanks to his mother's care during his childhood and the relationship with his team gives him a high humanity stat, which in the actual TTRPG gives you even bigger room for cybernetic implants. The guy was special not because he beloved in himself, but because his family and friends belived in him. That was what kept him going for so long. That and the drugs. Can never go wrong with the drugs, until they don't work.
I like to think the original Adam became a construct and was reanimated into his mostly robotic body with that small piece of brain for the construct to take over. This would explain how he’s able to be so chromed out as I don’t think the explanation that just because he is already a psycho he can chrome himself out cuz then surely they’re would be more people like him. I think him being a construct makes sense as I believe cyberpsychosis stems from one’s soul and him being construct therefor having no soul explains why he can augment to such a degree this also explains why v can get so much chrome without becoming a psycho ( yes v wasn’t soul killed but he did die which would release his soul, I don’t think he would have a soul when he reanimates he’s just an empty vessel at that point)
Edit: also Weyland does say that “Adam has a way with coming back from the dead”. So maybe Adam will come back from the dead again if he is indeed a construct
